Sonic preoccupations: Low frequency sound, noise, electronics, installation, video and improvisation
Artist Statement: Cat Hope is an active Western Australian performer, sound artist, composer and music researcher. She tours as a solo bass noise artist and with her four piece bass group, Abe Sada. She has over 20 CD releases as a soloist and in different groups. Her music focuses on the low end of the sound spectrum, and she has a particular interest in the relationship between sound and image. Her works are often very long and immersive, and she often dabbles in performance art. She also creates works for film, dance and installation. She has toured her works in Europe, Japan and the USA and presented at all the major Australian music festivals. She is a PhD candidate in Sound Art at RMIT University Melbourne, and co-ordinator of postgraduate, composition and music technology studies at WAAPA, ECU.
